It’s not only a new semester at Syracuse University but, a
New Year as well. And what comes along with a New Year? Change. Some of you who
may be reading this article may have decided that you want to eat healthier
this semester to make up for all of the items that you indulged in during this
winter break. Some of you may have to adjust back to not having the luxury of
going down stairs and having a fridge and pantry that is already fully stocked with
all of your favorite foods; And must now get back into the routine of grocery
shopping, cooking and eating at the dining halls.
I am sure this winter break many of
you partook in eating a variety of different foods. I’m also sure that many of
you may have even helped Santa to finish some of his milk and cookies. But just
because you are back at school does not mean you cannot have some of these
delicious foods and just do so in moderation and by putting a healthy twist on these
items. Below are three healthy meals that are both cheap and affordable for college
students. Enjoy
Maria's Veggie Wrap
Chicken and Sundried Tomato Pasta
On the other hand, if you were the college student who went
home this winter break and worked out consistently let me give you some tips so
that you can keep that consistency once your work load increases within your
classes. If you tend to be the person who likes to grab food on Marshall Street
while on campus try packing a lunch the night before I guarantee you’ll be more
satisfied with your meal choice and you will save a few bucks. Second try
finding a friend who also wants to become healthier so that you can help to
motivate each other. Thirdly, have fun with trying to be healthier. Try not to
stick to the same workout routines and consume the same foods each week.
Remember that it is a New Year and
that anything that you were not particularly happy about last year you can
change this year. Just stay focused and remember to have fun.
